Key Responsibilities

  • •Develops and implements guidelines for a baby-friendly environment under hospital policies and DOHMS/WHO standards.
  • •Assesses education needs of patients and staff, and provides effective education on baby-friendly initiatives.
  • •Demonstrates continual assessment, coordination and planning of feeding for all babies, including risk assessment for breastfeeding difficulties.
  • •Collaborates with Paediatricians, Obstetricians, Nursery staff, Obstetrics and Gynecology staff and NICU to provide optimum newborn care plans (feeding, breast care and bonding).
  • •Attends Pediatric rounds and liaises with the multi-disciplinary team regarding feeding plans, interventions and problems.

Key Requirements

  • •Bachelor’s Degree in Midwifery or equivalent (minimum three years duration) or Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing with Midwifery Certificate (minimum three years) or Associate’s Degree in Nursing with Midwifery Certificate (minimum one year)
  • •Must hold a valid License/Registration to practice in home country or last employer country
  • •Must hold a minimum of a valid Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
  • •Certified Lactation Consultant
  • •Minimum of three years post-graduate experience as a Midwife in the Maternal Newborn Unit with two years of clinical teaching experience
