Job Summary

Support UK Unsecured Lending within HSBC’s RBW Legal team in a highly regulated environment. Advise on legal and regulatory issues affecting unsecured credit products and customer outcomes, leading complex matters and supporting unsecured lending proposition and product development. Provide leadership on regulatory change, act as a trusted adviser to lending leadership and stakeholders, and contribute to transactional banking development and continuous improvement in the Legal function.

•Lead on complex legal matters for RBW UK Unsecured Lending, providing clear, commercial, pragmatic advice to senior stakeholders and taking ownership to resolution.
•Support unsecured lending proposition and product development, advising on product design, customer journeys, documentation, communications, operational processes, distribution, and governance.
•Provide leadership and support on regulatory change impacting retail banking, helping influence, anticipate, interpret, and implement changes.
•Act as a trusted adviser to the RBW UK Unsecured Lending leadership team and wider stakeholders, balancing pace and innovation with risk stewardship and customer outcomes.
•Support wider transactional banking development, including advice connected to payments, operational change, and related regulatory developments impacting retail banking propositions.

Key Requirements

•UK qualified lawyer.
•Significant unsecured credit experience, ideally in-house at a bank/consumer lender, advising on consumer credit law and regulation and unsecured lending propositions.
•Strong working knowledge of relevant UK regulatory frameworks and conduct expectations, translating regulatory requirements into customer-focused outcomes.
•Track record delivering regulatory and business-led projects with strong risk stewardship and the ability to provide commercial legal advice to senior stakeholders.
•Strong organisation and prioritisation, able to manage workload and plan projects systematically to meet business priorities.
