Job Summary

Lead the technical delivery of water quality projects across the Catchment Science team within Sustainable Water Management Consulting, with a major infrastructure focus. Direct work including financial/change control and quality assurance, while mentoring and developing junior colleagues. Partner with the Water Quality Service Lead to scope services and build training programmes, generate high-quality bid proposals, and produce client/public-facing deliverables using strong communication and data interpretation.

Key Responsibilities

•Lead the technical delivery of projects covering all aspects of water quality.
•Provide project direction including financial/change control and quality assurance through checking and reviews.
•Mentor, develop, and supervise junior colleagues, with opportunities for formal people management.
•Work with the Water Quality Service Lead to develop water quality training and agree scopes of services.
•Generate bid proposals and oversee high-quality client- and public-facing deliverables, including communication and interpretation of complex data.

Key Requirements

•Degree-level qualifications in a relevant subject (e.g., geography, geology, geochemistry, earth/environmental science, civil engineering or similar).
•A higher degree in a relevant discipline (e.g., river/lake water quality, water chemistry, hydrogeochemistry, water management, environmental science), desirable but not essential.
•Experience implementing UK regulations and EU-related policy to protect river, lake, and water quality.
•Working knowledge of surface water quality and catchment modelling tools, plus EIA scoping/reviews/assessments for water/hydrology chapters.
•You will have gained, or be working towards, chartership with a relevant professional body.
