Key Responsibilities

  • •Respond promptly to interpreting sessions and conduct interpretation in a friendly and professional manner.
  • •Render accurate concepts and meanings according to established interpretation protocol, avoiding omissions or additions.
  • •Speak clearly in both languages with proper pronunciation and enunciation.
  • •Maintain a professional demeanor and calm demeanor during sessions, including emergency situations like 911 calls.
  • •Maintain punctuality and availability during work hours and follow client instructions to meet expectations.

Key Requirements

  • •Fluency in Hawaiian and English with cultural competence and regional/accent awareness.
  • •Legally authorized to work in the United States; work authorization that does not require visa sponsorship.
  • •At least 18 years old and high school diploma or equivalent.
  • •Ability to read and write Hawaiian and English; reading/writing ability highly preferred.
  • •Proven ability to maintain accuracy, note-taking, and concentration during interpretation, including handling high-emotion or sensitive calls.
