Key Responsibilities

  • •Maintain inventory of facilities, equipment and infrastructure requiring regular inspections and keep an updated inspection schedule.
  • •Conduct physical condition inspections, assess related documentation, capture findings in ISOMETRIX, and ensure sign-off and effective close-out.
  • •Assist with incident investigations, compile investigation reports with required sign-offs, and follow up on close-out of corrective actions.
  • •Support Safety culture initiatives, including safety improvement plans (SIPs), hazard hunts/HPH reporting, internal audits, and emergency drills.
  • •Manage contractor safety compliance by reconciling contractor safety files, conducting site establishment audits, reviewing Passport 360 uploads, and consolidating weekly contractor statistics into reports.

Key Requirements

  • •Grade 12 with a Higher Certificate in Safety Management (NQF5) and/or a National Diploma in Safety Management (NQF level 6).
  • •3–5 years’ experience in daily SHE management in a mining environment (preferably open cast) with project management experience.
  • •Knowledge of the Mine Health and Safety Act (Act 29 of 1996) and related legislation, applied to ensure compliance.
  • •Proficient in computer literacy and MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • •Advantageous: SAMTRAC Mining or COMSOC 1 & 2, A3 Risk Management, Learning from Incidents course, and SACPCMP Registration as a Safety Officer.
