•Follow events and trends to identify news and feature stories and broader areas worthy of coverage in Western Canada.
•Experiment with storytelling and new formats.
•Stay updated on audience strategies to reach new readers across platforms.
•Demonstrate support for our value of journalistic independence and a strong commitment to our mission to seek the truth and help people understand the world.

Key Requirements

•5+ years’ experience at a journalism or media company, preferably in Canada.
•Deep knowledge of Vancouver or Calgary and the ability to develop new sources.
•Professional experience reporting on major breaking news, preferably for a major national or global news organization.
•Ability to work fast on deadline, handle evolving storylines, and write quickly and authoritatively while adhering to NYT standards.
•Proven ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
