Key Responsibilities

  • •Collaborate end-to-end on payroll and AI product counseling, including payroll launch readiness assessment, AI impact assessments, model cards, and risk controls with Privacy/Security.
  • •Partner with Commercial Legal on product T&Cs and AI-specific clauses for payroll features, including training/usage of data and metadata, output/IP ownership, acceptable use, and transparency.
  • •Proactively monitor new AI and tech regulations and translate them into actionable steps for product, design, and engineering teams.
  • •Manage external counsel on complex, multi-jurisdictional issues and drive clear, practical outcomes.
  • •Partner with Privacy & Security on DPIAs/TIAs, incident response, and vendor/LLM diligence; deliver targeted enablement.

Key Requirements

  • •Qualified lawyer with extensive experience in product counseling across jurisdictions (multiple bars a plus).
  • •Product counsel experience in technology with proven expertise in HR tech (Payroll/PEO/EOR) and advising at scale across multiple jurisdictions.
  • •Deep expertise in AI frameworks (EU AI Act, UK approach, U.S. developments, Canada AIDA) and how they intersect with data protection (GDPR/CCPA), employment law, and payroll compliance.
  • •Bonus: in-house legal and fast-paced startup experience.
  • •Writes and speaks fluent English; excellent analytical and organizational skills.
