Key Responsibilities

  • •Lead and mentor a team of lighting artists, assigning work appropriately and providing clear feedback during dailies and reviews.
  • •Collaborate with VFX leadership and art/cinematography stakeholders to establish lighting style, color palette, and quality bar.
  • •Supervise lighting for shots and sequences to ensure lighting supports story, performance, and visual continuity.
  • •Create or refine key lighting setups for complex, hero, or reference-setting shots as needed to meet the quality bar.
  • •Work with downstream teams (Surfacing, FX, CFX, Matte Painting, Compositing) and troubleshoot lighting technical and artistic challenges.

Key Requirements

  • •Significant experience as a Lighting Artist in feature animation, VFX, or high-end series, including time in a Lead or Supervisory role.
  • •A strong reel demonstrating high-quality lighting and rendering with deep understanding of color, mood, and cinematic storytelling.
  • •Proficiency with industry-standard lighting and rendering tools including Maya, Katana, Houdini, and renderers such as Arnold or RenderMan.
  • •Strong understanding of how lighting interacts with modeling, surfacing, FX, CFX, matte painting, compositing, and rendering within a production pipeline.
  • •Excellent communication and leadership skills to give clear, constructive feedback and collaborate across departments.
