Key Responsibilities

  • •Transform AutoOpenRaman into a compact, safe, manufacturable benchtop Raman instrument.
  • •Define the mechanical envelope for the InstantRaman enclosure under optical, stage, and Class 1 laser safety constraints.
  • •Design and prototype an enclosure that achieves Class 1 laser safety certification and supports small-scale production runs (10–50 units).
  • •Own mechanical BOM, tolerancing, and assembly documentation for reproducible builds.
  • •Consolidate electronics into an integrated mechanical system with clean cable routing and accessible service points, and coordinate enclosure/optical path development.

Pay and Benefits

Salary: USD 150,000 - 185,000

Key Requirements

  • •BS or MS in mechanical engineering (or closely related) with hands-on experience designing and building scientific or analytical instruments.
  • •Experience designing enclosures or housings for regulated or safety-critical hardware, such as laser systems.
  • •Proficiency in CAD (SolidWorks, Fusion 360, or equivalent) including tolerancing, assembly modeling, and fabrication drawings.
  • •Experience with sheet metal design, vendor sourcing, and iterating through fabrication cycles.
  • •Ability to collaborate with optical and software engineers, understanding impacts on alignment stability, thermal behavior, and software-controlled motion.
