Key Responsibilities

  • •Conduct preliminary ophthalmic diagnostic tests and screenings (e.g., visual acuity, tonometry, visual field testing, and refraction) following protocols.
  • •Prepare patients for exams, explain procedures, collect relevant medical history, and ensure comfort throughout visits.
  • •Perform specialized tests such as OCT, visual field testing, fluorescein angiography, and ultrasound imaging to support diagnosis and monitoring.
  • •Assist ophthalmologists during eye exams and procedures by setting up instruments/equipment, preparing patients, and providing on-site support.
  • •Record test results and patient information in electronic medical records, maintain confidentiality, and comply with documentation, infection-control, and safety standards.

Key Requirements

  • •Diploma and knowledge of ophthalmic anatomy, common eye conditions, diagnostic tests, and ophthalmic equipment.
  • •Ability to perform visual assessments including visual acuity, color vision, and depth perception tests.
  • •Experience with ophthalmic imaging techniques and assisting with interpretation of imaging results.
  • •Familiarity with ophthalmic surgical procedures, sterile techniques, and instrument handling.
  • •BLS certification and maintaining required licensure/certifications for the role.
