Key Responsibilities

  • •Define the mechanical architecture for the torso, head, and arms; lead trade-off studies between mass distribution, ROM, and structural rigidity.
  • •Bridge Industrial Design and Engineering; incorporate ID intent into final A-surfaces while ensuring mechanical constraints do not compromise the head design and brand identity.
  • •Manage the surfacing of the robot skin to ensure seamless transitions between structure and aesthetics while maintaining IP and thermal venting requirements.
  • •Lead tight-space integration of compute clusters (NVIDIA Jetson/SoMs), battery modules, and perception sensors within the torso and head; architect multi-level interconnects and cable routing for high-cycle reliability.
  • •Define and execute the Design Verification Test (DVT) plan for the upper body stack, and provide technical mentorship through design reviews and standards development.

Key Requirements

  • •BS in Mechanical Engineering with a minimum of 8 years of experience in mechanical design of complex robotic systems.
  • •Ability to lead technical initiatives and align cross-functional stakeholders without direct reporting authority.
  • •Proven surfacing expertise with Class-A surfaces and complex geometries; proficient in SolidWorks, NX, Catia.
