Key Responsibilities

  • •Design, build, and continuously improve observability platforms, pipelines, and tooling used by Canva engineers.
  • •Provide technical leadership to drive pragmatic solutions and impactful observability design decisions.
  • •Brainstorm, research, and prototype to optimize metrics and continuous profiling platforms and improve their reliability and operational effectiveness.
  • •Improve the metrics and continuous profiling experience for querying, visualization, and monitoring, and advocate for best practices.
  • •Collaborate cross-functionally and act as an observability champion to guide engineers on using observability insights and systems effectively.

Key Requirements

  • •Proficient and comfortable coding in Python, Golang, and/or Java.
  • •Deep knowledge of computer engineering fundamentals and first principles.
  • •Experience with infrastructure-as-code, including Terraform and Jsonnet.
  • •Practical experience with AWS services such as EC2, EKS, Lambda, SQS, Kinesis, S3, and MSK (or equivalent).
  • •Competency with observability technologies such as Prometheus, Grafana, and OpenTelemetry (or equivalent).
