Job Summary

Build and optimize Akamai’s global traffic flows and mapping strategy to improve content delivery performance, availability, reliability, and efficiency. Define and evolve KPIs/SLIs/SLOs, advance measurement, dashboards, alerting, and automation, and lead production investigations. Collaborate with engineering and SRE teams to engineer traffic policies, troubleshoot distributed performance issues, and automate operational processes that reduce toil.

Key Responsibilities

•Improve Akamai content delivery products through cross-functional collaboration and data-driven performance, availability, reliability, and efficiency decisions.
•Respond to escalations to evaluate capacity impact and drive improvements.
•Design strategies for allocating global capacity across products to balance efficiency, resilience, and customer experience.
•Engineer global traffic policies to continuously improve latency, availability, and resource utilization.
•Automate operational tasks and build monitoring/alerting/logging/analytics to proactively detect, mitigate, and prevent issues.

Key Requirements

•Bachelor’s in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related engineering field.
•Experience with Python, Go, Bash, or similar scripting languages.
•Strong Linux/Unix CLI/shell skills with knowledge of Linux/Unix internals, network protocol stack, distributed systems, and systems design.
•Experience writing SQL queries for trend analysis, troubleshooting, and reporting.
•Experience with Site Reliability Engineering, DevOps, or a related role, including monitoring/alerting/logging platforms (e.g., Grafana, Prometheus).
