Key Responsibilities

  • •Provide technical support to resident engineers, construction managers, and field inspection staff as an owners-rep program management resource.
  • •Monitor construction activities for compliance with contract plans/specifications and applicable FRA/Amtrak/CSX/VRE and environmental permit requirements.
  • •Conduct daily inspections of work in place (e.g., concrete pours, rebar placement, foundations, trackwork) and support required testing and quality documentation.
  • •Interpret and verify compliance with specifications, work instructions, methods, procedures, and product data; develop inspection/oversight strategies with program management staff and contractors.
  • •Maintain regular logs of work progress, support field technical assistance, interface on field design changes/RFIs/nonconformance reports, and provide scheduling recommendations within allowable work windows.

Key Requirements

  • •Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a related field (or equivalent).
  • •3-5 years of experience in construction of Class 1 Rail projects or similar infrastructure.
  • •Proven experience with concrete and steel structures.
  • •Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, and repair procedures to guide maintenance crews.
  • •Proactive ability to identify and address safety and quality concerns, coordinating effectively with maintenance staff.
