Key Responsibilities

  • •Own developer relations for an open source portfolio end-to-end, including setting strategy, defining success, and being accountable for outcomes.
  • •Hire, level, and grow a team of Developer Advocates, taking ownership of their careers through clear expectations, feedback, and a visible path forward.
  • •Strengthen trust and adoption as a vendor-neutral participant in Apache and Linux Foundation ecosystems, focused on project impact.
  • •Establish repeatable advocacy approaches (content flywheels, contribution guides, event playbooks) and expand external adoption and contributions.
  • •Drive high-quality educational and storytelling content—talks, demos, videos, blogs, sample notebooks, datasets, tutorials, and courseware—while guiding community growth and representation inside R&D.

Key Requirements

  • •8+ years of combined experience in developer relations/developer advocacy and a hands-on technical role (software engineer, data engineer, solutions architect, or similar).
  • •2+ years managing and growing a developer relations team, including hiring, leveling, and promoting advocates.
  • •A substantial open source track record, including sustained contribution and experience with governance, release processes, and community norms.
  • •Established relationships within the Apache Software Foundation and Linux Foundation ecosystems, with understanding of effective engagement.
  • •Deep knowledge of the Open Lakehouse stack (Apache Spark, Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, Apache Iceberg, MLflow) and working understanding of agentic open source and Omnigent.
