Key Responsibilities

  • •Serve as independent airworthiness authority for flight systems and payload integrations, defining certification strategies and compliance plans.
  • •Own airworthiness documentation and certification governance, including certification plans, compliance reports, safety assessments, and review boards.
  • •Lead system safety activities (hazard analyses and safety risk assessments) and provide independent approval for safety-critical design changes and configuration releases.
  • •Oversee hazardous payload and weapons system integration certification, including review and approval of handling, integration, and operational procedures.
  • •Provide airworthiness approval for ground and flight testing, including review/approval of test plans and support for test strategy aligned to airworthiness and safety requirements.

Key Requirements

  • •15+ years of aerospace, defense, or national security flight systems experience, including airworthiness certification or system safety.
  • •Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related field (Master’s preferred).
  • •Deep knowledge of MIL-HDBK-516 / MIL-STD-516 airworthiness criteria and MIL-STD-882 system safety.
  • •Experience supporting DoD airworthiness authorities and Military Flight Release (MFR) processes.
  • •Familiarity with munition or hazardous payload certification standards, including MIL-STD-2105 and MIL-STD-1316.
