Job Summary

Design and build internal tools and automation to power IT, Security, and operations at Retool. Build with Retool, automate onboarding/offboarding, RBAC provisioning, and integrations with Okta/Rippling. Eliminate manual workflows by creating scalable systems, consolidate SaaS tooling, and raise the engineering bar through mentoring. Partner across Security, Infrastructure, Finance, Workplace, and People Ops to scale internal operations.

Job Function: Software Engineering

Key Responsibilities

•Design and build internal tools and automation to power IT, Security, and operational workflows across the company
•Automate core business processes, including onboarding, offboarding, access reviews, procurement, and internal service workflows
•Eliminate manual work and reduce operational overhead by replacing repetitive processes with scalable systems
•Identify opportunities to consolidate or replace third-party SaaS tools with internal solutions, reducing cost and complexity
•Own identity lifecycle systems, including provisioning, RBAC, and integrations across tools like Okta, Rippling, and other critical systems

Key Requirements

•5+ years of experience in IT Engineering, Systems Engineering, Internal Tools, or similar roles in a fast-growing technology company
•Proven track record of building internal tools and automation systems that eliminate manual operational work and scale business processes
•Strong experience designing and implementing automation using programming languages such as Python or JavaScript, including API integrations and workflow orchestration
•Deep systems thinking with an automation-first mindset; ability to replace manual processes with scalable solutions
•Hands-on experience with identity and access management systems including Okta, SSO, SCIM, and RBAC, and designing reliable lifecycle workflows
