Job Summary

Lead the ARC team for Scale AI’s Public Sector Engineering group, defining how software is shipped into complex, high-security government environments. Design and implement secure, scalable backend systems, build internal CLIs/tools for testing and deployment, and automate release processes to reduce tech debt. Re-architect stacks with swappable components to meet compliance mandates, mentor and manage teammates, and collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders and customers to deliver backend solutions and influence platform direction.

•Design and implement secure scalable backend systems for Public Sector customers using Scale’s cloud-native AI infrastructure.
•Build and maintain internal CLIs/tools that standardize testing, deployment, and environment management to prevent downstream breakages.
•Manage team performance and provide mentorship while guiding the technical direction.
•Re-architect the stack for compliant/restrictive environments using swappable components (auth, storage, logging) and collaborate to execute the backend solution vision.

Pay and Benefits

Salary: USD 188,800 - 362,000 annually

Key Requirements

•Active secret clearance is required; candidates without at least a secret clearance will not be considered.
•Proficiency in full stack development, including experience with modern web development frameworks, programming languages, and databases.
•Understanding of containerization and container orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes) and experience developing/deploying in cloud-native environments.
•Experience with federal compliance frameworks and requirements such as Cloud SRG, FedRAMP, and STIG Benchmarks.
•Support working 3 days a week from the DC, SF, NYC, or STL office.
