Key Responsibilities

  • •Research building, life safety code, and fire code requirements, including familiarity with ICC and NFPA codes (International Building Code and NFPA 101).
  • •Assist with the design of fire protection and life safety engineering systems, including fire sprinkler, fire detection and alarm, smoke management, and egress systems.
  • •Assist with fire engineering calculations for smoke modeling and evacuation analysis, from hand calculations to 3D computational modeling.
  • •Assist with commissioning of fire alarm, fire suppression, smoke control, and life safety systems.
  • •Under general supervision, assist with review of architectural drawings for compliance and help produce fire safety strategy (basis of design) documents.

Pay and Benefits

Salary: USD 23.9 - 32.22

Key Requirements

  • •Actively enrolled in an accredited Fire Protection Engineering (or related) undergraduate or graduate program with an anticipated graduation date of August 2027 or later.
  • •18 years or older.
  • •Authorization to work in the United States at the start of the internship.
  • •Demonstrated interest in Fire Protection & Life Safety and a strong desire to advance skills related to WSP’s work and projects.
  • •Competent interpersonal and communication skills and basic proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, and spreadsheets.
