Job Summary

Support the implementation of Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) policies by assessing hazardous conditions, investigating incidents, and helping design control measures to prevent harm, injury, illness, and environmental impact. Assist with risk assessments, audits, compliance advice, safety training, and new employee health and safety orientation. Coordinate committee meetings and help develop and maintain emergency response plans with external stakeholders. May act as evacuation or fire marshal.

Key Responsibilities

•Conduct surveys and assessments to identify hazardous conditions affecting workers, property, the environment, and the public, and help develop measures to eliminate them.
•Assist with investigating working conditions and incidents, determining causes, and recommending actions to prevent further accidents.
•Provide support on compliance with laws and regulations governing EHS matters, and perform risk assessments and related audits to mitigate organizational liability.
•Support new employee health and safety orientation and run safety training and education programs, including demonstrating use of safety equipment.
•Coordinate and attend safety committee meetings and help develop and maintain emergency response plans with external stakeholders; may act as evacuation marshal, fire marshal, or incident coordinator.

Key Requirements

•1–3 years of experience in Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE), EHS, Safety Management, or related functions.
•Knowledge of environmental, health and safety laws, regulations, codes, and standards and their application and interpretation.
•Experience handling HSE issues in a related industry/environment and influencing decisions to manage business risk.
•Ability to communicate effectively and collaborate with a variety of internal and external stakeholders.
•Display planning, organizing, and problem-solving abilities, including the ability to deal with conflict situations.
