Join the Elasticsearch Search Relevance team to help define the technical direction for search capabilities. You’ll lead initiatives to improve search speed and relevance, build new search features, fix complex bugs, and enhance search functionality in Lucene. •Lead initiatives within Elasticsearch to deliver an industry-leading search engine with speed and relevance.
•Contribute to Elasticsearch by building new search features and fixing bugs, making code easier to understand.
•Work with a globally distributed team of engineers focused on vector search capabilities in Elasticsearch.
•Drive improvements to Elasticsearch search relevance by identifying and acting on opportunities.
•Collaborate with community members on issues and pull requests, including triaging and handling work yourself.

Key Requirements

•Professional experience with search or vector databases, using HNSW, IVF, or other relevant algorithms and libraries at scale.
•Solid core Java skills, including standard data structures and concurrency constructs, plus features like lambdas.
•High autonomy to take projects from beginning to end, covering technical design and working with other engineers to build required components.
•Comfort collaborating with feedback on code, approaches, and APIs, including asynchronous collaboration over the internet.
•Experience with data storage technologies like Elasticsearch, Solr, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, or Cassandra, and understanding how and why they work.
