Job Summary

Senior Site Reliability Engineer within the Virtualization & Host Platforms team focusing on server enablement and qualification. You will automate processes, improve observability, and troubleshoot complex production issues across Linux-based host platforms, collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure reliable datacenter operations and scalable infrastructure for Akamai compute services.

Key Responsibilities

•Developing, testing, and distributing changes to software, services, and tools the VHP team is responsible for.
•Designing and implementing enhancements to VHP observability infrastructure in order to identify and correct problems before they impact our customers
•Developing subject matter expertise in VHP components.
•Comfortable working in new tooling, code and environments and automating what’s possible.
•Collaborating with our support, operations and engineering teams to investigate and troubleshoot complex problems

Key Requirements

•Advanced level experience in Linux internals, system administration, and a deep understanding of underlying hardware.
•Advanced level experience with the Linux kernel and OS and an understanding of virtualization technologies (KVM/QEMU).
•Advanced level experience with designing, developing, and deploying software and infrastructure at scale.
•Skills identifying whether hardware-test failures originate from firmware, BIOS/UEFI configuration, device firmware, kernel/driver behavior, or the physical test environment.
•Skills using Python and shell scripting to independently implement solutions, and a Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent.
