Key Responsibilities

•Design, implement, and optimize Elasticsearch’s core storage and query engine for observability workloads.
•Lead the architectural evolution of storage engine components by identifying and resolving performance bottlenecks in indexing layouts, serialization formats, and resource utilization.
•Drive cross-organizational initiatives to build industry-leading observability solutions and improve logs/metrics capabilities.
•Introduce best practices for clean coding and architectural clarity while untangling complex system behaviors.
•Act as a subject matter expert/mentor, triaging and resolving issues and pull requests with domain experts as needed.

Key Requirements

•Strong experience building high-performance, scalable database, search, or distributed systems with a focus on storage, indexing, query execution, and performance optimization.
•Strong core Java skills, including understanding concurrency primitives and designing/optimizing efficient data structures and algorithms.
•Experience implementing techniques to efficiently index, store, and query time-series or logs data.
•Experience with one or more data storage technologies such as Elasticsearch, Solr, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, or Prometheus.
•Ability to collaborate across functions and teams in a distributed environment, work autonomously, and communicate clearly.
