Key Responsibilities

  • •Perform advanced mechanical repairs, including engine performance, drivability, and electrical system repairs.
  • •Diagnose and repair brake systems, steering, suspension, complete 4-wheel alignments, and heating and air conditioning systems.
  • •Inspect vehicles to meet CarMax Quality Standards and maintain shop cleanliness per 5S principles.
  • •Consult with customers on repair needs, explain services performed, and ensure clear communication while managing and closing repair orders accurately.
  • •Manage parts inventory, receive shipments, maintain stocking levels, and follow CarMax Environmental, Health and Safety (EH&S) requirements.

Key Requirements

  • •Completion of New Associate Orientation Training and Operations/Kronos training for hourly associates.
  • •Where required by state/local law, maintain ASE certifications for Steering and Suspension (A4), Brakes (A5), Heating Air Conditioning (A7), Electrical (A6), Engine Repair (A1), Manual Drive Train and Axles (A3), Engine Performance (A8), and Automatic Transmission/Transaxle (A2).
  • •Ability to read, interpret, and accurately record data.
  • •Capable of performing multiple tasks in a fast-paced, high-energy environment.
  • •Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand/walk for extended periods, with flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays; strong customer service skills.
