Key Responsibilities

  • •Contribute to laboratory protocol/SOP development and provide technical support for operational research studies for PC-NTD elimination.
  • •Perform O-150 PCR entomological testing of S. damnosum s.l. adults and conduct entomological analyses.
  • •Document and disseminate best practices and lab protocols across the national NTD laboratory network; support scientific reports/publications.
  • •Support maintenance of laboratory databases and develop mapping of laboratory data and entomological surveillance results, liaising with the ESPEN data team in Brazzaville.
  • •Help plan and facilitate inter-country and in-country trainings to build national capacity in laboratory analytics and GIS/mapping for NTDs.

Key Requirements

  • •First university degree in computer sciences, information system engineering, GIS, public health, parasitology, or medical entomology.
  • •Minimum 2 years of applied molecular biology research and development experience related to onchocerciasis or other priority NTDs in Africa.
  • •Experience with GIS data transformation for mapping and spatial modeling of onchocerciasis foci.
  • •Excellent knowledge of the epidemiology of onchocerciasis and control/elimination strategies in the African region.
  • •Expert knowledge of French (desirable: intermediate English).
