Job Summary

Provide site-based support for rail station mechanical and public health building services designs, acting as the liaison between the design team and the main contractor/sub-contractors. Support buildability, commissioning/testing, site surveys, site visits, meetings, factory and site acceptance tests, and technical query responses. Monitor installation progress, report risks, support submittal/proposal reviews, and help resolve non-conformances and defects for projects delivered for major rail clients.

Key Responsibilities

•Provide liaison between the WSP design team and the main contractor and subcontractors for rail station mechanical/public health building services designs.
•Advise the design team on buildability, commissioning/testing provision, and design compliance during installation.
•Undertake non-intrusive site surveys, facilitate site visits (including risk assessment and safety briefings), and attend meetings (design/interface/progress).
•Monitor installation progress, report emerging technical risks, respond to technical queries, and support review of technical submittals and contractor proposals.
•Support production of design development notes for field changes and assist with inspection, non-conformance/defect resolution, BWIC/site changes, commissioning, entry into service, and as-built/operating & maintenance documentation review.

Key Requirements

•Experience in mechanical building services design and site design representative work in the rail environment, including heating, cooling, and water/drainage/ventilation systems.
•Registration with a UK Engineering Institution.
•Understanding of Network Rail and/or Crossrail and/or HS2 standards (LUL/TfL standards useful).
•Understanding of Building Regulations, British standards, and industry guidance for mechanical building services.
•Understanding of health and safety regulations (e.g., CDM), Common Safety Method/HSE guidance, and testing/commissioning and project administration processes.
