Key Responsibilities

  • •Lead field operations for complex projects by providing expert technical guidance, hands-on execution, and oversight of day-to-day site activities.
  • •Perform testing and commissioning of Protection and Control systems on high-voltage substations, including hands-on protective relay testing with relay test sets.
  • •Independently execute and validate advanced protection/control testing sequences, align results to test plans/standards/client specifications, and ensure accurate data documentation.
  • •Follow safety protocols including daily safety briefings and job hazard assessments; lead field implementation of health and safety protocols, job hazard analyses, and quality control procedures.
  • •Lead field crews by assigning tasks, monitoring performance, mentoring technicians, and coordinating with clients, contractors, vendors, and project leadership on progress, risks, and technical concerns.

Key Requirements

  • •High school diploma or equivalent.
  • •Minimum 11 years of experience in electrical testing, including medium/high voltage circuit breakers, power transformers, instrument transformers, and substation protection and controls testing.
  • •Expertise in transmission, generation, or distribution relays and protective schemes (e.g., SEL, Basler, Beckwith, GE).
  • •Advanced relay testing and calibration skills using test sets/measuring devices such as Omicron CMC 256/356 and Doble F6150, including control-scheme and CT/PT circuit testing, with ability to upload settings to microprocessor relays.
  • •Experience applying electrical field testing standards and procedures such as NETA, IEEE, and NFPA, plus proficiency with testing/data review software (ProTesT, Protection Suite, ENOSERV RTS, Omicron Test Universe, AcSELerator Quickset).
