Key Responsibilities

  • •Provide genomics algorithm insights for the assay/panel roadmap, including analytically difficult genes and assay edge cases.
  • •Define computational strategies for new targeted/special-purpose callers, including prototyping, benchmarking, and production implementation.
  • •Serve as a bioinformatics consultant for complex production escalations and convert one-off investigations into durable rules and pipeline design changes.
  • •Act as a liaison with Variant Management, Reporting, and Laboratory Operations to improve data quality, variant representation, and system integration.
  • •Help define success criteria for AI-assisted scientific investigation and appropriate human sign-off expectations.

Key Requirements

  • •Degree in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Human Genetics, or a related field (Ph.D./M.S. not required if experience shows equivalent depth).
  • •4+ years analyzing short-read sequencing data for screening or diagnostic applications in a regulated or production-adjacent setting.
  • •Experience contributing to bioinformatics workflows behind a sequencing assay or panel.
  • •Experience resolving complex investigations across biological, analytical, and systems-level causes.
  • •Experience developing, validating, or benchmarking bioinformatics methods (SNVs, CNVs, SVs), especially for analytically difficult regions, with strong Python skills.
