Job Summary

Support the continued implementation of the Public Health Intelligence (PHI) initiative in the Eastern Mediterranean Region by operationalizing a regional PHI Community of Practice and providing technical guidance to PHI adoption in priority Phase 1 countries. Facilitate expansion to additional countries, including deployment of Epidemic Intelligence from Open Sources (EIOS), coordinate stakeholder engagement, and ensure proper documentation of progress, achievements, challenges, and recommendations.

Key Responsibilities

•Update and implement a simple workplan for the regional PHI Community of Practice, including priority topics and planned engagements.
•Organize regular virtual sessions with PHI focal points and produce short summary notes with agreed actions and next steps.
•Provide continued technical follow-up to Phase 1 countries on PHI implementation and use of EIOS.
•Support orientation and ePHEM training for additional countries and guide initial implementation steps.
•Facilitate partnership coordination by developing partnership documents, coordinating engagement meetings, and preparing agendas and outcome notes.

Key Requirements

•Advanced university degree (Master’s level or above) in Health Science, Public Health, Epidemiology, or a related field.
•5 to 10 years of professional experience in public health and epidemiology, with expertise in disease surveillance systems.
•Demonstrated experience implementing or managing health surveillance systems in humanitarian or resource-limited settings.
•Previous experience working with the United Nations system or other international organizations, including assignments outside the candidate’s home country.
•Proficiency in English at expert level; Arabic at intermediate or higher is desirable.
