Key Responsibilities

  • •Partner with cross-functional teams to deliver AI-powered products that change how associates work and how customers interact with Capital One.
  • •Design, develop, test, deploy, and support AI software components for foundation model training, LLM inference, agents and multi-agent workflows, similarity search, guardrails, evaluation, experimentation, governance, and observability.
  • •Invent and apply foundation model optimization techniques to improve scalability, cost, latency, and throughput of production AI systems.
  • •Design and optimize multi-model orchestration pipelines integrating LLMs, vector search, and domain-specific models into unified production systems.
  • •Establish governance and design review practices for AI engineering standards and mentor Principal/Manager-level AI engineers.

Pay and Benefits

Salary: USD 229,900 - 286,200 annually

Key Requirements

  • •Bachelor's degree in Computer Science/AI/Electrical Engineering/Computer Engineering (or related) plus at least 6 years, or Master's plus at least 4 years developing AI/ML algorithms or technologies.
  • •At least 6 years of programming with Python, Go, Scala, CUDA, or Java.
  • •Experience developing and deploying scalable, responsible AI systems on cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Google Cloud, Azure or equivalent).
  • •Experience developing AI systems including LLM inference, similarity search, and vector databases (VectorDBs), plus guardrails/memory using programming languages such as Python, C++, C#, Java, CUDA, or Golang.
  • •Ability to improve model training/inference performance (hardware utilization, latency, throughput, and cost) and to build agentic AI systems/workflows.
