Job Summary

Build and evolve Grafana Cloud telemetry databases and Adaptive Telemetry features that help customers retain only the most valuable metrics, logs, traces, and profiles. Own architecture, reliability, performance, and cost for critical distributed systems, define SLOs/SLIs, lead incident response and blameless post-mortems, and drive operational readiness through observability and automation. You’ll also lead cross-functional delivery and mentor engineers in a remote-first Canadian time zone.

Key Responsibilities

•Drive technical strategy and the roadmap for Adaptive Telemetry and related systems.
•Lead end-to-end delivery of large, cross-functional initiatives, including planning, design, execution, rollout, and long-term operations.
•Own architecture, reliability, performance, and cost for critical systems, balancing scalability, availability, latency, and cost.
•Define SLOs/SLIs and lead high-severity incident response, including blameless post-mortems and systemic fixes.
•Improve observability and operational readiness via telemetry, alerting, runbooks, capacity planning, and automation to reduce toil and MTTR.

Salary: CAD 186,368 - 223,642 annually

Key Requirements

•Proven delivery of large distributed systems, including operating complex systems across multiple teams with demonstrated technical leadership.
•Deep systems-design instincts with strong tradeoff judgment across latency, consistency, availability, scaling, and cost.
•Hands-on cloud and platform experience with cloud-native architectures such as microservices, containers/Kubernetes, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
•Ability to define SLOs/SLIs, drive reliability work end-to-end, and perform capacity planning and performance tuning.
•Excellent coding and design skills; strong enough to lead technical designs and write clear, maintainable, well-tested code (Go preferred; Python/C/C++/Rust or similar translate well).
