Key Responsibilities

  • •Improve TikTok’s search core algorithm, including content understanding using NLP/CV and LLMs to match the most relevant videos to queries.
  • •Work on user behavior modeling for recommendation in search to improve personalization and better understand users.
  • •Develop video understanding methods using NLP/CV/LLMs to improve authority, credibility, and usefulness of search results.
  • •Design, build, test, and maintain search services, data pipelines, tools, and platform components supporting search quality, reliability, latency, and user experience.
  • •Collaborate with the Search Engineering team as an early-career graduate engineer to tackle complex search challenges.

Key Requirements

  • •Completing or recently completed a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related technical discipline.
  • •Experience with at least one programming language such as Python, Java, C++, Go, or JavaScript through coursework, internships, projects, or equivalent practical experience.
  • •Experience with search, recommendation, machine learning, information retrieval, natural language processing, ranking, data mining, or backend systems.
  • •Familiarity with distributed systems, databases, data pipelines, online experimentation, or large-scale service development.
  • •Ability to use data or metrics to debug, evaluate, or improve a product or system.
