Job Summary

Ensure HSBC’s compliance with sanctions rules and regulations by providing sanctions subject matter expertise to risk and control owners across Global, Region, Markets, and Lines of Business. Manage financial crime (FC) oversight and guidance aligned to Global FC policy and RMF, respond to first line of defence queries, assess risks and control effectiveness, and prepare challenged reporting for senior governance and audits.

Key Responsibilities

•Ensure HSBC conducts business in compliance with sanctions rules and regulations.
•Provide subject matter expertise to risk and control owners and guide first line of defence activities.
•Manage FC risks by providing oversight and direction on business controls and remediation plans.
•Critically assess and challenge risk and control owners; develop best-practice standards and procedures for FC oversight and reporting.
•Represent FC in governance forums and support internal and regulatory audits and inspections, including analysis of audit and assurance reports.

Key Requirements

•Provide sanctions subject matter expertise and guidance to the first line of defence.
•Support management of FC risks through oversight and direction of business controls under Global Line of Business procedures and HSBC global policies.
•Engage with first and second line stakeholders to ensure transparency on risks, control assessments, remediation plans, and trigger event oversight.
•Use knowledge of sanctions risk typologies, banking regulations, operations, audit, and risk/control concepts to execute FC functions in line with Global FC policy and RMF.
•Prepare, review, challenge, and consolidate accurate data, reports, and executive presentation packs for governance forums and meetings.
