Job Summary

Support science teaching by setting up and preparing chemistry, physics, and biology lab equipment, chemicals, and solutions under teacher guidance. Maintain safe working practices for hazardous materials, including spill cleanup and first aid response as needed. Calibrate and prepare lab solutions, run titrations, and keep chemical storage and reagents organized. Assist with marking and supervising activities, manage lab inventory and ordering, and provide support to students, staff, parents, and the public.

Key Responsibilities

•Set up equipment, chemicals, and supplies for junior and senior chemistry, physics, and biology labs under the teacher’s guidance.
•Prepare solutions (including molar solutions), buffer solutions, indicators, and biological stains; perform titrations and ensure appropriate sterilization and glassware cleaning.
•Ensure safe lab operations by following regulations for hazardous materials, maintaining chemical storage standards, and handling spills and chemical accident first aid as required.
•Maintain and repair lab equipment (including electroscopes and ray boxes) and keep reagents and equipment ready for specific lab activities.
•Assist teachers with marking and supervision (including field trips), manage lab inventory and ordering of equipment/chemicals/gases, and provide information to students, staff, parents, and the public.

Key Requirements

•Bachelor’s degree in a relevant subject.
•Experience working with children or in a school setting, preferably in a similar role.
•Good levels of written and spoken English.
•Enthusiasm and aptitude for working with students.
•Ability to work well as part of a team and use own initiative.
