Job Summary

Provide Line 2 oversight and strategic advice on the Group’s balance sheets as a member of the Balance Sheet & ALM Oversight team. Use deep expertise in solvency, liquidity, ALM, and balance sheet modelling to assess material business decisions, set and evaluate risk appetite, and influence senior stakeholders. Support effective risk oversight activities and technical leadership across areas including hedging, Matching Adjustment, stress/scenario testing, and climate financial risks.

Key Responsibilities

•Provide Line 2 advice, guidance, and challenge for oversight of the Group’s balance sheets and delivery of the long-term financial strategy.
•Opine on material business decisions by assessing key risks and trade-offs, balancing strategic objectives with commercial opportunities and risk implications.
•Support development and maintenance of effective, efficient risk oversight activities aligned to risk identification, mitigation, and performance against risk appetite.
•Provide technical leadership within the team, focusing oversight on material risks and transactions, and contribute to team ways of working through coaching and knowledge sharing.
•Influence and constructively challenge senior stakeholder decisions and deliver clear, decision-ready reports and materials.

Pay and Benefits

Salary: GBP 110,000 - 127,000 annually

Key Requirements

•Qualified actuary with significant experience in a life insurer, regulator, consultancy, or reinsurer.
•In-depth understanding of life insurance products (especially PRT and annuities) and regulatory frameworks including Solvency UK, IFRS 17, and UK GAAP.
•Deep experience in balance sheet modelling and analysis, solvency and liquidity analysis, asset-liability management and hedging, and Matching Adjustment.
•Strong understanding of insurance, credit, and market risks, including climate financial risks.
•Experience developing risk frameworks and setting risk appetite, and the ability to work across teams in a large, complex organization.
