Key Responsibilities

  • •Assist with positioning and preparation of patients as directed by the surgical team, ensuring specimens are correctly labelled and dispatched to the laboratory.
  • •Maintain cross-infection control by following departmental policy on dress, asepsis, and decontamination and sterilisation procedures.
  • •Prepare patients for clinical/operative procedures in both anaesthetics and surgery, and provide assistance during procedures.
  • •Provide immediate post-operative care and initial emergency care as required.
  • •Take charge of the clinical area in the absence of an advanced practitioner and ensure equipment is checked prior to use; support induction/orientation and junior staff development plans.
