Job Summary

Work aboard switch boats and river boats, tying up vessels using lines, ratchets, cables, and wenches. Keep decks clean, lower and man lifeboats during emergencies, and stand watches while underway. Load and unload supplies, carry rigging and equipment, and support routine maintenance like painting, lubricating machinery, and repairing cables and ropes. Follow all safety rules and meet regular attendance requirements.

Key Responsibilities

•Tie up vessels to another vessel or rig/barge/tow using lines, ratchets, cables, and wenches.
•Sweep and wash decks.
•Lower and man lifeboats in case of emergencies.
•Stand watches while underway.
•Load/unload groceries and other supplies and assist with maintenance (painting/chipping, lubricating equipment, splicing/repairing cables and ropes).

Key Requirements

•High school diploma or equivalent; plus one to three months related experience and/or training (or equivalent combination).
•Know how to secure lines properly and tie towing/ backing lines.

•Read and interpret safety rules, operating/maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; write routine reports and communicate effectively.
