Job Summary

Serve as the primary manufacturing engineering representative for Etched’s contract manufacturer partner in Taiwan. Provide technical leadership and mentorship to ensure high-complexity PCBA assembly meets quality, yield, and reliability goals. Drive DfM and NPI activities, including readiness reviews, issue resolution, and manufacturing KPI monitoring, while collaborating with US-based manufacturing technology experts and cross-functional teams to continuously improve processes.

Key Responsibilities

•Act as the primary technical interface between Etched and Taiwan contract manufacturing partners, building relationships and providing supplier engineering mentorship.
•Lead manufacturing readiness and engineering reviews during design transfers and production readiness assessments.
•Support NPI by coordinating prototype through production builds, resolving early production issues, and monitoring first-pass yield and manufacturing performance.
•Review SMT manufacturing processes for compliance and evaluate stencil design, solder paste application, reflow profiles, inspection strategies, and assembly methods.
•Collaborate on DfM by providing manufacturing feedback on PCB layouts and assembly strategies and identifying manufacturability risks (including component placement, package selection, panelization, and soldering).

Key Requirements

•Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field, or proven experience.
•5+ years of experience in PCBA manufacturing engineering, SMT process engineering, NPI, or supplier manufacturing engineering.
•Strong understanding of SMT assembly processes including stencil printing, pick-and-place, reflow soldering, AOI, SPI, and X-ray inspection.
•Experience supporting contract manufacturers or electronics manufacturing services (EMS) providers.
•Strong knowledge of Design for Manufacturability (DfM) and PCB assembly processes, including fine-pitch BGAs, QFN, CSP, and high-density assemblies.
