Job Summary

Design Engineer, Municipal Infrastructure at WSP leads the planning and design of municipal infrastructure across Nova Scotia, including site servicing, watermains, wastewater, stormwater, and road networks. You’ll prepare analyses, drawings, specifications, and cost estimates, provide technical advisory services, mentor junior staff, support field construction, liaise with municipal and regulatory agencies, and prepare RFPs and bid documents to support project pursuits.

Key Responsibilities

•Design municipal and land development infrastructure including site servicing, watermains, wastewater systems, stormwater management, and roadway networks.
•Prepare analyses, calculations, drawings, specifications, cost estimates, and reports that guide key project decisions.
•Provide technical advisory services and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, CAD technicians, junior staff, and project managers.
•Offer mentorship and contribute to the growth of emerging engineering talent within the team.
•Support field staff with construction reviews, contract administration, and resolving on-site technical issues.

Key Requirements

•5+ years of experience in municipal engineering or land development for public or private‑sector projects.
•A degree or diploma in Civil or Environmental Engineering and eligibility for P.Eng. designation in Nova Scotia.
•Strong working knowledge of regional design standards, environmental guidelines, and regulatory processes.
•Proven design experience involving water, wastewater, stormwater, and/or roadway systems.
•Familiarity with municipal planning and approval frameworks across Atlantic Canada.
