Key Responsibilities

  • •Map and instrument Vapi’s path from task to production, identify the largest constraints on agent effectiveness, and ship initial improvements to sandbox, developer tooling, or validation infrastructure.
  • •Launch the first production workflow in Vapi’s internal software factory, providing background agents with context, tools, sandbox, telemetry, and automated quality gates to produce review-ready PRs.
  • •Own and launch Vapi’s platform for autonomous background engineering by building a harness for real-time voice AI that lets agents place real calls, measure latency and conversation quality, inspect telemetry, and iterate to a verified result.
  • •Connect sandboxes, CI, verification, and background agents into one cohesive agentic development lifecycle that compounds across engineering teams.
  • •Drive the objective to ship 10× faster by creating the foundation that accelerates every engineer.

Key Requirements

  • •Built internal platforms, developer tooling, or infrastructure that materially changed how engineers build, test, and ship software.
  • •Hands-on engineering experience with distributed systems, platform architecture, API design, CI/CD, and monorepo or large-codebase workflows.
  • •Experience building agent harnesses and using coding agents (e.g., Claude Code, Codex, Cursor) on real engineering work.
  • •Ability to design secure agent interfaces, MCP integrations, and sandboxed runtimes for safe API/tool execution.
  • •Experience building or operating online/offline LLM evaluation systems and reasoning about accuracy, latency, reliability, and cost.
