Key Responsibilities

  • •Lead the Data Streaming team to build and operate Braze’s managed data streaming platform, powered by Kafka, Kafka Streams, and Apache Flink.
  • •Treat the platform as a product: define capabilities based on consumer needs, gather requirements, prioritize initiatives, and drive adoption via self-service “paved-road” interfaces.
  • •Partner with SRE to embed reliability practices into the stack, establish SLIs/SLOs, and ensure healthy production and retrieval paths as the platform scales globally.
  • •Provide technical guidance across the Kafka stack, connector frameworks, and stream-processing engines, including architecture, scalability, and system design trade-offs.
  • •Champion automation, observability, infrastructure-as-code, secure design, and strict data governance; lead incident response and post-mortems to harden the platform.

Key Requirements

  • •5+ years of increasing responsibility in platform engineering or infrastructure, including experience managing and mentoring engineering teams.
  • •Experience owning and delivering infrastructure services that drive significant business value.
  • •Strong knowledge of distributed, event-driven systems such as Kafka (Connect/Streams) and Apache Flink to guide architecture and reliability trade-offs.
  • •Hands-on experience building and scaling internal platforms using cloud infrastructure (AWS/GCP/Azure), infrastructure-as-code (Terraform), and CI/CD pipelines.
