Key Responsibilities

  • •Support strengthening epidemiological surveillance for vaccine-preventable diseases, including Acute Flaccid Paralysis (AFP), measles, rubella, neonatal tetanus, and other priority diseases.
  • •Provide technical support to identify and prioritize sentinel surveillance sites, perform active case finding using ODK/Kobo Collect checklists, and support training/refresher sessions for health staff and surveillance focal points.
  • •In the current epidemiological context, support active research, identification, and notification of mpox cases, including training clinicians on case definitions, contact tracing, sample collection, and sending samples to the central level.
  • •Monitor surveillance performance indicators and produce regular technical reports on progress, challenges, and recommendations.
  • •Support immunization activities by helping adapt microplans, monitoring coverage tools and daily consolidation logs, tracking vaccine stock and cold-chain temperature, and supporting vaccine planning and distribution.

Key Requirements

  • •Bachelor’s degree in Health Sciences, Public Health, Medicine, Nursing, Environmental Health, or a related field from a recognized institution.
  • •At least 1 year of relevant experience in epidemiological surveillance of notifiable diseases and/or delivering vaccination services at sector, regional, or national level.
  • •Field experience in case-based surveillance and outbreak response and/or vaccination campaigns at subnational level.
  • •Strong practical knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • •Excellent command of Portuguese; knowledge of French and/or English is an advantage.
