Job Summary

Senior internal medicine physician position (40-100% with STV option) at Hirslanden Salem-Spital in Bern. You will oversee the medical management of inpatients, supervise residents and students, support interdisciplinary collaboration, participate in on-call medical issues without night shifts, and contribute to documentation and process improvements within the department’s full spectrum of internal medicine and emergency medicine.

Key Responsibilities

•Oversee professional organization and management of inpatient medical and interventional/invasive disciplines with comorbidities on wards and IMC.
•Ensure high-quality, patient-centered care and promote interdisciplinary collaboration.
•Participate in medical on-call duties with no nightly on-call requirement.
•Lead and support residents and medical students in training and further education.
•Accountable for medical performance recording, reporting, and optimizing existing workflows; act as a point of contact for consultations.

Key Requirements

•Facharzttitel Allgemeine Innere Medizin or nearing completion, with possible additional sub-specializations (e.g., Infectiology, Nephrology, Cardiology) considered.
•Experience in diagnosing and treating complex internal medicine cases.
•Strong organizational skills for inpatient ward duties and the ability to work well in an interdisciplinary team.
•High level of responsibility toward patients, junior doctors, and the broader organization.
•Empathy and effective communication with patients and families; conflict-resolution skills appreciated.
