Job Summary

Assist the Chief Engineer and 1st Engineer in the safe and efficient operation of engine room machinery onboard a Trailing Suction Hopper Dredger. Maintain engine room watch, monitor and operate main and auxiliary engines plus pumps and compressors, and perform routine inspections, fault diagnosis, and preventive maintenance. Ensure correct hydraulic, dredge pump, and pipeline system performance, keep accurate logbooks, respond to alarms and emergencies, and coordinate with the deck team while following PMS, safety, and MARPOL requirements.

Key Responsibilities

•Assist the Chief Engineer and 1st Engineer in the safe and efficient operation of all engine room machinery and systems onboard the dredger.
•Maintain continuous engine room watch and ensure all parameters stay within operational limits.
•Monitor and operate main engines, auxiliary engines, pumps, compressors, and dredging support machinery.
•Carry out routine inspections, fault diagnosis, preventive maintenance, and support troubleshooting/repair during breakdowns.
•Record engine room parameters, fuel consumption, and maintenance activities in logbooks; respond to alarms and emergencies; assist bunkering and coordinate with the deck team to ensure uninterrupted production.

Key Requirements

•Basic & Advanced STCW certification.
•License as 2nd Engineer officer (Without Limitation).
•5 years rank experience on dredger.
•Ability to assist in the safe and efficient operation of all engine room machinery and systems.
•Knowledge of planned maintenance (PMS) and compliance with international maritime regulations.
