Key Responsibilities

  • •Troubleshoot network equipment, remove/replace defective modules or equipment, and work to isolate and restore network service.
  • •Assist in installation/change/decommissioning and testing of Next Generation technologies including Edge Compute, Wavelength, Fiber Optic transport, Ethernet, SONET, and IP network layers.
  • •Locate, mark, and protect underground outside plant facilities using industry standard hardware and software tools.
  • •Perform preventive/scheduled level 1 maintenance and inspections on network and critical infrastructure equipment, including HVAC systems, high-voltage electrical systems, and DC power plants.
  • •Manage asset and inventory processes: maintain tools/test sets and network equipment, coordinate shipping/receiving, and update records and logs in trouble-ticket/provisioning and time-tracking systems.

Key Requirements

  • •High school diploma or GED, or up to 2 years of relevant experience, including 1+ years of network monitoring, installation, or maintenance/repair.
  • •Entry-level technician knowledge/experience in at least one discipline: Transmission (DS1/DS3/SONET), Switching (circuit-switching/SS7), TCP/IP (routers/higher-layer protocols), or Outside Plant (fiber locating, OTDR, Mass Fusion Splicing).
  • •Knowledge of locating fiber optic cable, right-of-way, and As-Builts.
  • •PC skills with Microsoft Windows and Office applications, and ability to quickly learn corporate databases.
  • •Valid driver’s license and ability to work in all weather conditions; on-call 24x7 on a rotational basis with call-out, dispatch, and overtime as needed.
