Key Responsibilities

  • •Contribute to research, development, and deployment of signal processing and machine learning algorithms for Oura features based on multiple sensing modalities.
  • •Conduct exploratory research to identify and characterize new sensing features, build proof-of-concept approaches, and support cross-functional commercialization.
  • •Design and support internal and external data collection studies to develop, benchmark, and improve new biomarkers and algorithms and evaluate signal quality from hardware/firmware prototypes.
  • •Develop and maintain internal signal evaluation tools and libraries to help hardware and firmware teams optimize products.
  • •Document and present data analysis and algorithm performance results with actionable recommendations, and provide guidance when integrating new sensing modalities into next-generation hardware.

Key Requirements

  • •PhD with 3 years’ work experience OR MSc with 5 years’ work experience in biomedical engineering, electrical engineering, neural engineering, or related fields.
  • •3+ years of programming skills in Python and experience collaborating with code tools such as Git and peer review.
  • •Experience with signal processing and time-series analysis (e.g., FIR/IIR filters, Kalman filtering, adaptive filtering, stochastic processes).
  • •Experience with biosignal sensing and wearable hardware (including hardware prototypes) is a plus.
  • •Flexible schedule and strong asynchronous communication skills to work with Finnish teams (early morning meetings 2–3 times/week).
