Key Responsibilities

  • •Provide the full breadth of personal financial counseling services to service members and their families at assigned military installations, including one-on-one counseling and consultations.
  • •Develop and make available informational financial materials and support spending-plan development for extended absences.
  • •Coordinate, publicize, and deliver personal financial management classes/workshops across the military lifecycle (arrival, pre/post-deployment, and related personal and career events).
  • •Respond to requests for age-appropriate classes or seminars and provide referral resources outside the context of a counseling session.
  • •Work with installation and branch points of contact to ensure the program meets installation needs, manage duty to warn per DoD protocol, and participate in supervision, training, and quality-improvement activities.

Key Requirements

  • •Bachelor's degree required; may consider an associate degree plus 4 years’ experience or a high school diploma plus 6 years’ experience in lieu of a bachelor's degree.
  • •3+ years of financial counseling experience.
  • •Must be a U.S. citizen and speak fluent English.
  • •Possess skills to effectively utilize virtual counseling/electronic communication methods (web based, secure chat, video teleconference).
  • •Must have one of: Accredited Financial Counselor (AFC), Certified Financial Planner (CFP), or Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC).
