Key Responsibilities

  • •Guide engineering design, estimating, and analysis for transmission and substation protection systems to support capital construction and performance improvements.
  • •Own and coordinate the system protection platform across AVANGRID affiliates, including integration, settings, networking, criteria, specifications, automation configurations, and commissioning plans for engineering suppliers and contractors.
  • •Oversee engineering studies to evaluate equipment and protection system performance, analyze operational issues, and solve complex technical problems using engineering judgment.
  • •Provide fault event operations expertise, ensure proper protection scheme operation, and produce clear fault analysis reports with corrective actions and lessons learned.
  • •Lead and guide technical development of the Protection Engineering group and represent the company on regional and national committees while ensuring cross-company consultation on complex emerging issues.

Key Requirements

  • •7+ years of technical experience in protection engineering or a related field.
  • •Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (Electrical Engineering Technology acceptable); Master’s degree preferred.
  • •Expert knowledge of engineering & design and compliance requirements for power system protection using national/international standards.
  • •Professional engineering license preferred.
  • •Proficiency documenting and interpreting engineering documentation; ability to review/approve others’ engineering work for compliance with standards, specifications, and contract requirements.
