Job Summary

Provide technical leadership for Timing and Synchronization software initiatives across Cisco Silicon One products. Own design and delivery of timing features, evolving Precision Time Protocol (PTP) and Synchronous Ethernet (SyncE). Build high-performance C++ software for embedded Linux networking systems, including clock synchronization, measurement, monitoring, diagnostics, and validation. Lead integration across SDK, platform software, and Network Operating Systems, drive root-cause analysis, and mentor engineers through reviews and engineering guidelines.

Key Responsibilities

•Lead the design, development, and delivery of Timing and Synchronization software features for Cisco Silicon One platforms.
•Implement and evolve Precision Time Protocol (PTP), Synchronous Ethernet (SyncE), and related timing technologies.
•Develop high-performance C++ solutions for Linux-based embedded networking systems, including clock synchronization, timing measurements, monitoring, diagnostics, and performance validation.
•Integrate timing features across software layers including SDK, platform software, and Network Operating Systems.
•Drive root-cause analysis and resolution of complex software and system issues using GDB and mentor engineers through code reviews and engineering guidelines.

Key Requirements

•Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field with 10+ years of software development experience, or a Master’s degree with 8+ years.
•Strong C++ software development expertise.
•Experience developing software for embedded Linux systems and hardware-constrained environments, including system-level debugging.
•Hands-on experience using GDB and related debugging tools.
•Networking software experience involving PTP, SyncE, timing synchronization/clock management, and Layer 1/Layer 2 networking technologies.
