Key Responsibilities

•Control the screed on an asphalt paving machine to manage material taken into the paver and the depth of material distributed
•Perform paving operations with a strong understanding of preparatory work, grades, drainage, paving patterns, aggregate size, and job specifications
•Maintain efficient working condition of paving equipment
•Perform minor servicing and maintenance or refer major problems to the supervisor
•Support safe, timely, and efficient work on paving projects

Key Requirements

•Prior experience operating the screed on an asphalt paving machine
•Thorough understanding of asphalt paving, including preparatory work, grades, drainage, paving patterns, aggregate size, job specifications, oil consistencies, and compaction
•Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, correspondence, and memos; ability to write simple correspondence
•Ability to perform basic arithmetic (add, subtract, multiply, divide) using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
•Ability to follow instructions for controlling material placement through the machine
